Critical Role Season Four Reveals the Fighters Table

Ever since the premiere of the fourth campaign, fresh DM Brennan Mulligan has kept fans guessing with rich lore, a wide array of heroes, and a thrilling plot including celestial beings, evil spirits, and dark forces expanding in strength within Dol-Makjar.

Heads-up: Spoilers for Episode 3 of Campaign 4 follow below.

The Combat-Oriented Party Revealed

Episode 3 finished on a huge suspense moment and introduced the initial group of heroes who will split off from the main group to undertake their separate journey, separate from the other two tables.

The combat-focused team includes the determined fighter (played by Travis), the nimble rogue (Laura), the strong-willed figure (Whitney), Wicander Halovar (Sam), and the mysterious adventurer (the actor).

Dividing the Cast

Given 13 cast members, it was clear from the beginning that maintaining everyone at a single group would be unfeasible.

This explains, the opening chapters of this story serve as an Introduction, weaving together the individual narratives before branching into three distinct groups: Warriors, Planners, and Seekers.

The Nature of the Warrior Group

Per Brennan Lee Mulligan, the warrior group is for adventurers who are drawn to a classically intense fight-heavy story mode where peaceful solutions are rare.

At first glance, characters like the reluctant priest Wicander Halovar might seem mismatched, but the actions of the latest installment make it clear why these particular heroes are ideally matched for the Soldiers table.

Why They Must Go

For one thing, the party understands precisely where to proceed after a intense first encounter with the enemy group.

Casimir of the deceased character—whose passing kicked off the campaign’s events—used The Crow Keepers for his own means, invading the hidden lair, assaulting the character, and swiping all the powerful objects to dispose of.

The antagonist then settled his liabilities and escaped to a fortified location in the northern region, beyond the urban center, with Cyd Pridesire pursuing him.

Individual Reasons

Moreover, each adventurer has a personal reason to leave the city the metropolitan area:

  • The rogue, as the close ally and trusted friend, wants vengeance.
  • The knowledgeable figure knows Timmony and advises that it is a hostile place.
  • The warrior and Wicander, having defied his relatives’ demands to eliminate the target and instead freed him, have nowhere else to go.
  • However, their position as key figures in House Halovar could enable the party access locations they normally couldn’t.
  • Additionally, The grateful character pledged a eternal obligation to The savior for his deliverance and will now follow him everywhere.

Wanted and Hunted

In addition, all of them are hunted by the authorities that control Dol-Makjar for a variety of reasons, making lingering locally dangerous:

  • Thimble and Kattigan are notorious outlaws.
  • The warrior and The healer defied the powerful family and the horde of evil beings they are partnered with.
  • The target is targeted for elimination by House Halovar.

This leaves them no alternative but to travel to the remote area in pursuit of the traitor.

What’s Next?

According to episode three’s follow-up content, we discover that the warrior group will be absent the following episode, leaving the remaining eight participants to assemble the Questers and Planners groups.

Fans can expect discovering which players will be where in Campaign 4’s concluding setup installment, released on October 24.
